Trintella II and IIa

Trintella II

Built: 90
Design: E.G. van de Stadt
Period: from 1966
Length: 9.45 m
Width 2.80 m
Draught: 1.41 m
Motor: Volvo Penta

The Trintella II is larger than the I and its cockpit has sides made of GRP instead of wood. The II has a fullkeel with the rudderblade attached to it. There are two interior versions. Most have a long pantry and a quarterberth on the portside, and a dinette on starboard. Some a bench on the portside in stead of a pantry. The latter is then at the backside. The II is a well sailing ship, but it is sensitive to trim. Bad trim will cause a weatherhelm.

Trintella IIa

Built: 60
Design: E.G. van de Stadt
Period: from 1968
Length: 10.00 m
Width: 2.80 m
Draught: 1.41 m
Engine: Volvo Penta 15/25 bhp

The Trintella IIa is a further development of the II. The stern is lenghtened by 55 cm and is rising more above the waterline. More important is de change of the hull below the waterline. The IIa has a shorter keel and the rudderblade is attached to a seperate scheg. The aim of Van de Stadt at this was to get a more comfortable steering. The interior lay outs are the same as with the II. Most will have a long pantry and 2 quarterberths. The original Volvo Penta MD2(B) often had cooling and electricity problems, what urged many ownersoner time  to have te engine replaced. The IIa is a good sailer, close to the wind and comfortable at sea.
