How to prevent water syphoning to the engine.
The engine is fitted below the waterline. In the present situation we have a Vetus waterlock fitted and a vent for the cooling water rail. The vent is squirting quite a lot of water. To prevent this we have acquired a Vetus overflow vent. Are there any other know options and how to they prevent water syphoning to the engine?
Answer: It's important top prevent syphoning of water to the engine,as it can cause major damage and even total loss of your engine. A simple solution is to create a gooseneck with a hose from the airvent to the highest point recling to a point below. This causes a constant waterflow when the engine is running. With the engine turned of the air coming through the same hose will prevent syphoning.
