The association
Four early Trintella owners Jules Coppens, Jan Buyze, Joe Butzelaar en Ad van Gent convocated a first meeting on October 24th 1968. They called themselves "Commitee of Trintel and Trintella sailers". Their purpose was to stimulate contacts amongst all owners. This was supposed to happen at a joint party with diner and dance and at a reunion for all ships.

The Veerse Meer in the southern of Holland was in 1969 the place of the first reunion. The event was such a success that it was decided that all sould meet again in the coming winter to exchange photos and films and to talk about the last sailing season. It was decided also that a next reunion should that place the next year in the North of Holland on the IJsselmeer. So from that moment on every year a reunion was held, alternating yearly in the North and the South. The ships traveling northward or southward even tried to form a convoy. The winterreunions also became true events: cruises on the Rhine, visits to the boatexhibition in Dusseldorf and Londen, and parties in the Kurhaus (Scheveningen) and in a castel.
The beginning of the 80's was a difficult time for the shipyard and the association. The association decided to become fully selfsupporting in order not to generate any cost to the shipyard. It was Mr. Jan Greve who took this initiative and on May 2nd 1984 the "Trintella Vriendenkring" was actually founded. The members of the association informed each other about all interesting news through the Trintella Journal: journals of a Trintella 38, that competed in the OSTAR, the victory of a Trintella 42 (winner overall) in the "Corpus Christi Race Week" (Texas) and also of a Trintella 42 joining the Azoren race. Those who returned from a circumnavigation were welcomed home. Still today the member keep each other informed by a club newspaper, written in Dutch and German. The content is similar.
The TVK now has approximately 180 members. The Springreunion is still being held every year, alternately in the and the South; the days around Ascention are sacred to the members! The Fallreunions, combined with the yearly convocation of members, are also well visited.
The members are mostly Dutch, Belgian and German, but we als have members in: Portugal, the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway, Austria and Hungary.
